This isn’t the first time a bride in Brazil has opted for this mode of transportation on her wedding day. In December 2016, a 32-year-old nurse named Rosemeire Silva Nascimento wanted to surprise her fiancé and the 300 guests in attendance by arriving via helicopter. The ceremony was to take place at a popular venue in a very affluent neighborhood in Sao Paulo when the bride’s helicopter crashed minutes before landing at the Sao Lourenco da Serra grounds.
Sadly, the bride and three others traveling in the copter with her perished in the crash. Because her fiancé, Udirley Narques Damasceno, was unaware of her choice of the entrance, he had no idea to expect her arriving by helicopter. Udirley waited patiently at the venue for his bride-to-be to arrive. When she didn’t, he assumed she had gotten cold feet. When the news finally reached the wedding venue, local news reported that Udirley was devastated when he found out what happened.
The bride and groom involved in the crash over the weekend were very lucky that things didn’t end horrifically. Looking at all the facts, it’s really no surprise they went on with the ceremony, considering how fortunate they both were to be able to in the first place.
