For many people, mass transportation is a quick, easy, and safe way to get to and from work and other local destinations. But while accidents involving busses and trains are far less common than car accidents, they’re still possible. With that being said, commuters in Washington are feeling terrified today after an Amtrak train traveling to Portland fell from an overpass.
Emergency vehicles responded to the accident immediately. A report from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office has revealed that there were several “injuries and casualties” but it is unclear exactly how many people were killed and/or injured.
What is clear, though, is that when the train derailed it hit several cars that were traveling along the interstate. Several drivers were injured but it according to ABC News, none were killed.
Several eyewitnesses saw the train fall from the overpass and some even flocked to the scene to help.
