If you’re a fan of rock music, there’s a good chance you know at least one Tom Petty song. Petty began his career in in 1970 as the lead singer of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, but over the years he also found success as a solo artist. Even if you’re not familiar with his name, you’re more than likely familiar with songs like “Free Fallin'” and “Refugee”.
Over the years, Petty hasn’t slowed down or missed a beat, until now. Recent reports have indicated that he has passed away at the age of 66.
Information released from TMZ indicates that Petty was found in his Malibu, California home unconscious and in full cardiac arrest.
EMTs arrived at Petty’s home and rushed him to the nearest hospital where he was immediately put on life support. Petty recently wrapped up a big tour, and there were no indications that he was having any health concerns, so the news is especially shocking.
