Do you remember what you were doing when you were 17? There’s a pretty good chance you weren’t on the other side of the world competing in the Winter Olympics. But, if Netflix was around, you’d probably be binge-watching your favorite shows late at night after you got your homework done, right?
That’s what 17-year-old American snowboarder Red Gerard is doing with his February – he’s participating in the Pyeongchang Games. That, and binge-watching Netflix.
In fact, Red was up so late watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Saturday, he slept through his alarm.
Ordinarily, sleeping through your alarm when you’re 17 results in you being late for school or for work if it’s the weekend, but the consequences for Red were a little direr: Sunday was the day of his event, slopestyle.
Red Gerard said he got a Snapchat this morning around 8:30 a.m. from his group of 17 people that is in Pyeongchang, South Korea to support him for the Games: "They were all shotgunning beers on the way to the mountains." pic.twitter.com/JORk5m3pH5

Thankfully, someone in his Snapchat group was able to wake him up, but Red had to rush to get to the mountain.
