English actor Patrick Stewart has also jumped onboard the Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies train. The 77-year-old has been a staunch supporter of daily cannabis use, adding in a statement (via Metro):
“I am proud to become a patron of OCT. It’s wonderful that OCT have got together the funding that means that Britain will lead the way in what is, in my view, one of the world’s most exciting fields of medical research. The possibilities seem to me to be virtually limitless.”
Metro is also reporting that the X-Men and Star Trek alum will serve on OCT’s Advisory Board. Stewart admits he uses cannabis every day for his arthritis and has been advocating for research on cannabis-based medications. OCT is currently researching treatments for cancer, pain management, a number of neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s and MS, and a range of inflammatory diseases. The company’s Chairman, Neil Mahapatra, says OCT’s ultimate goal is to help a large number of people through cannabis products.
