News out of the U.K. this week is that Snoop Dogg is now in the marijuana business. Now, you may be thinking, “Uhh…I knew that” but we mean legitimately in the marijuana business. It’s being reported by several British sources that Snoop has invested a whopping $10 million into Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies, through his venture capital firm Casa Verde.
While this may not come as a total shock to you, the $10 million investment is one of the largest contributions that Oxford Cannabinoid Technologies (OCT) has ever received. OCT has been seeking out funding for a research partnership and laboratory in Europe, according to the Green Rush Daily.
The Independent reports:
Casa Verde Capital focuses on the “ancillary” cannabis industry, outside of the actual distribution of the plant, including health and wellness companies, financial services, media, agtech, and laboratory technology. Its investment in OCT will support the company’s research in pain and inflammation therapies, cancer treatments, and remedies for gastrointestinal diseases.
A long supporter of marijuana, Snoop spoke to Esquire about legalizing cannabis back in 2016, saying: “As far as me being on the forefront and pushing, for a long time I was on the wrong side and now I’m on the right side.” But Snoop, AKA Calvin Broadus, isn’t the only Hollywood player getting involved in the cannabis company.
