By definition, veganism is “both the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals.”

Although it’s picked up in popularity over the last decade, it’s actually been around for more than 70 years.

Many vegans claim that their bodies can’t handle processing animal products, like people who are lactose intolerant and can’t have dairy.

Some just feel it’s healthier to not add animal fat to their diet.

Still, others will tell you that the reason they don’t eat animal products is that animals are living beings who are forced into living conditions that are inhumane solely for the sake of human eating their meat and drinking their milk. Some will also cite that animal agriculture is destroying the environment.

Some vegans can be a little much with their passion about not consuming animal products and as much as those vegans are the ones that set the tone for memes and videos, the majority of vegans just want to live their lives how they see fit – which is without ingesting or using products from animals.

That’s all fine and good. Live your life however you want. But you might want to stop using the “animals are living, breathing beings that can feel pain” excuse because apparently, plants can too.
