Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could take those NES favorites and combine them with modern technology? Sure, you can still play MarioKart on a Wii, Wii U, or Switch, but how cool would it be if you could play it in something even more high-tech, like in virtual reality?

You actually can.

Geod Studio first introduced its 3DNES emulator in 2016 and has spent the last couple years getting it to work in VR so you can play all of your old 2D NES classics in virtual reality using an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive head-mounted display.

As long as you have ROM available, just about every NES game is supported by the 3DNES VR, so as VentureBeat writes:

“The results are often stunning. For example, you can make Mega Man look like a plastic toy set or diorama. Or you can play Super Mario Bros. 3 from behind Mario instead of as a side-scroller. It’s bizarre and a novelty, but having the option to then have these games exist right in front of you in VR can potentially breathe new life into them.”

Incredible, Right? Check It Out Below:

The best part? 3DNES is available for $10 on Itch.io, but you can also try a demo of it for free.
