Ed Sheeran is one of the biggest pop stars to come out in the last five years or so, there’s no denying that. His music is not only blasted across Top 40 radio, you can also hear him at almost every wedding you’ll get invited to. While his songs are catchy and he’s a very talented singer, is he cheating as a songwriter?

Sheeran is in the headlines after settling a $20 million lawsuit alledging his and Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid copied X-Factor winner Matt Cardle’s song “Amazing” when they wrote and recorded Sheerans hit “Photograph.” Matt Cardle’s writers, Thomas Leonard and Martin Harrington’s complaint stated, “This copying is, in many instances, verbatim, note-for-note copying, makes up nearly one half of Photograph, and raises this case to the unusual level of strikingly similar copying.” While the settlement doesn’t admit to any wrongdoing, you can listen for yourself in this mashup…

This isn’t the only time Sheeran has been accused of copying other artists songs. In fact, two of his biggest hits may be complete rip-offs as well.
